Lecturer at Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al and HEC Montr\u00e9al between 1990 and 2005, Richard Deschamps holds an MBA, a Master\u2019s Degree in Industrial Relations and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. He has worked for nearly 20 years in management and consulting with major private sector and educational organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A City Councillor since 1999, Mr. Deschamps has been responsible for a number of files in the Borough as well as in the City, notably those related to economic development, sustainable development, infrastructure and roadways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He has been an Associate Councillor to the Mayor, appointed to the Executive Committee and the Agglomeration Council and has chaired various commissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During his fifth term, from 2013 to 2017, he served on the Board of Directors of Montr\u00e9al International. Since 2017, he has chaired the Board of Directors of Concertation Montr\u00e9al and has become a member of the Contract Review Board. He chaired the Economic Development Commission from September 2015 and became the first City Councillor responsible for issues related to education and university and college affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Re-elected for a sixth term in November 2017, Mr. Deschamps is responsible for local issues related to culture, public transit and PME Montr\u00e9al. His skills have also earned him the privilege of chairing the Commission on Finance and Administration of Montr\u00e9al and of being a member of several prestigious Boards of Directors such as Cit\u00e9 des m\u00e9tiers Activio, Eureka L’\u00cele du savoir and Montr\u00e9al Rel\u00e8ve.
