A native of LaSalle, Laura Palestini holds a certificate in Human Resources Management from McGill University and was a Manager for nearly 30 years with one of the largest paper companies in North America, Domtar Inc. Since 2016, she has been exercising her organizational skills in a financial institution.
Ms. Palestini has been politically involved in the borough for more than 25 years, having run election campaigns and even presided over the now defunct LaSalle Civic Action Party. Elected as Borough Councillor since 2005 with Manon Barbe’s team, she proudly represents the citizens of the Sault-Saint-Louis district.
Ms. Palestini has chaired the Urban Planning Advisory Committee and has served on the Boards of Directors of the Centre culturel et communautaire Henri-Lemieux, the Théâtre Desjardins and the LaSalle Hospital Foundation. From 2013 to 2017, she was a member of Montréal’s Commission on Finance and Administration.
In November 2017, she easily won her fourth election.
