This fall, we are implementing one of our key priorities: making the streets of our borough safer and greener for the well-being of our citizens. Eight strategic intersections, located near parks, seniors’ residences, sports facilities, and health care institutions, will undergo development work to make our streets safer and more accessible for everyone.
The work includes the installation of curb extensions, the creation of universal accessibility ramps, and the greening of new infrastructure for increased ecological resilience. These initiatives will reduce heat islands and promote better stormwater management through natural infiltration.
This approach is perfectly in line with the goals we have set for ourselves. We promised to intensify our efforts to increase safety for all road users, especially pedestrians, and we are doing so.
Reducing street width and adding curb extensions are effective measures to slow traffic and make our living environments safer.
We promised it, we are doing it, and we will continue to strengthen this vision of a safer, greener, and more accessible LaSalle.
